Root Note
Scam Likely came together in early 2022 when singer Charlee Grider met bassist Thierry Diatta and bonded over a love of music and film. After recruiting likeminded musicians in guitarist Denzel Dondiego and drummer Cary Dean Elger, an enduring lineup was formed and the group brought their raucous live performances to midwest basements at a breakneck pace.
Creating music that lands somewhere between indie-punk and garage rock, the band gathered a loyal following after releasing their debut album "Getting Worse" with standout tracks like Domestic Bliss and Voodoo Doll. With a performance style described as "watching a little thunderstorm" they have rode this momentum to stages like Milwaukee's Pabst Theater and The Back Room, Chicago's Empty Bottle and Subterranean, and Minneapolis' Turf Club, opening for acts such as Frank Turner, Yard Act, Weatherday, Speedy Ortiz, and many others.
